LCD computer monitors are capable of displaying both analog and digital video signals. Analog signals have a maximum resolution of 480p, which is a standard definition resolution. Digital signals on the other hand have a maximum resolution of 1080p, which is true high definition. If you want to change your LCD monitor over to a digital display in Windows XP Professional, you'll need to use a DVI cable. Your LCD monitor should have come with one of these cables.
