Setting the monitor on the Dell Inspiron 4150 to an unsupported resolution can cause the entire display to appear distorted. Not all monitors support all existing resolutions and the one that is built in to the Dell laptop is no exception. All monitors have a "recommended" resolution, which is the resolution that will provide optimal image quality based on the monitor's technical specifications. You can troubleshoot and correct the resolution settings on the laptop by setting the screen resolution to the listing that is recommended.
Difficulty: EasyInstructions1Right-click the Dell Inspiron 4150 desktop.
2Click "Screen Resolution."
3Click "Resolution." A vertical slider bar will appear onscreen. One of the resolutions listed along this slider bar will have the word "Recommended" next to it.
4Move the slider bar until it is next to the resolution that is listed as "Recommended."
5Click "Apply" to change the Dell laptop's resolution to the recommended settings.
