A diskette is a type of storage device that you save files to by dragging and dropping them into the folder that represents the contents of the device. If you want to use a CD in a similar fashion, you can do so natively in Windows by formatting that disc in "Live File System" format. This will allow you to drag and drop contents to the CD, which will automatically copy them to disc. You will have to use a CD-RW disc for this purpose, as those are the only types of discs that can be written to more than once.

2Click "Burn files to data disc" from the window that pops up on your screen a few seconds after inserting the disc into the burner.
3Insert a name for your disc into the window that is now open. This can be any name you'd like. Click "Next." Your CD-RW will be formatted in "Live File System" format.
4Drag a file into the window on screen that represents your CD-RW. This will automatically copy it to the CD-RW. To delete a file from the CD-RW, right-click the file and click "Delete." This will allow you to use your CD in the exact same way that you would use a regular diskette in a floppy drive.
